The company DAF shows its electric garbage truck that will be used this year in the Netherlands.
Today in Vallor Trucks we are looking at the Netherlands, where DAF has introduced its new 6x2 electric truck with rigid chassis. The first units of these vehicles will start working later this year.
But let's take a look at the electric vehicle, DAF CF is fitted with a VDL drive system, with an electric motor offering 210 kW of power (286 hp). In these garbage trucks, will be equipped with a hydraulic system with a diesel engine that serves for the functions of pressing, garbage lifting ...
The battery has a gross capacity of 170 kWh, but DAF has not indicated the autonomy it can provide; it has merely said that it is "sufficient" to cover regular garbage collection routes. This electric DAF CF can recharge 80% of its battery in half an hour with a quick charge, which although it is quite fast still means a delay in carrying out the work.
DAF has now been working in real conditions with electric trucks for just over a year. The first electric CFs have been operating in the Netherlands since the end of 2018 with several Dutch hauliers.
